Upgrade works at Clayton maternity

Women will soon have an even safer stay at Monash Medical Centre, with upgrade works commencing on Ward 52 later in the week to deliver an improved Central Fetal Monitoring System which will provide a real time link to the Birth Suite.

“Some women with higher-risk pregnancies may require an inpatient admission so we can monitor their health and their babies’ health. This upgrade further improves the quality of care we provide” said Kate Brown, Director of Clinical Operations at Monash Women’s.

Electrical works on Ward 52 will commence from Wednesday 28 April. Works will take approximately 4 weeks and require the temporary closure of a total of eight beds on the ward, performed in phases to maintain as much capacity as possible throughout works.

“If capacity is required during this period, we have identified some available inpatient beds in the Monash Children’s Hospital which will have no impact on delivering current paediatric services,” Kate said.
