Are you ready for flu season? Get your free flu vaccination today

Flu season is upon us and the weather is only getting colder! Make sure you protect yourself against the flu with your free flu vaccination.

In 2020, we saw flu rates in Australia drop to the lowest they had been in many years. However, it is important to remember that in previous years there have been over 3,300 avoidable deaths that stem from complications of the flu, including pneumonia. The flu can have significant health consequences and can even lead to hospitalisation.

We don’t know what this year’s flu season will bring, but we do know flu vaccination is an easy and safe way to protect yourself, your family and your patients.

“Flu vaccination is a safe and certain way of protecting yourself,” says Professor Rhonda Stuart, Medical Director, Infection Prevention & Epidemiology.

Monash Health provides free flu vaccination to employees and we encourage you to participate. You can visit the Infection Prevention offices at the following sites to receive your vaccination:

  • Monash Medical Centre – Monday to Friday (7.15am to 4pm)
  • Dandenong Hospital – Monday to Friday (7.30am to 4pm)
  • Casey Hospital – Monday to Friday (7.30am to 4pm)
  • Kingston Centre – Monday, Tuesday and Thursday (please contact Infection Prevention)
  • Moorabbin Hospital – Tuesday, Wednesday and every second Thursday (please contact Infection Prevention)

You must bring your Medicare number with you and remember to leave seven days either side of your COVID-19 and flu vaccinations.

Leaving home to receive your flu vaccination is permitted in line with the current COVID-19 restrictions.

If you have received your flu vaccination elsewhere or are not participating, you must complete the Flu Vaccination Declaration form.

For more information about flu vaccination, you can visit the Monash Health COVID-19 website.
