The next steps in the phased opening of new facilities at Casey Hospital is underway.
Casey Hospital Tower Ward 5 is being operationalised from the 30th of June. This will initially involve the opening of a 16 bed multiday General Medicine ward, which has been supported by the reallocation of beds from both Tower Ward 2 and Tower Ward 4.
Palliative Care beds currently located in Tower Ward 2 are being relocated to Tower Ward 3, to allow the relocation of Dandenong Cardiac Care Unit to the Casey Site later this year.
“There has been a significant amount of consultation and planning in this next phase,” said Zoe Devenish, Interim General Manager of Special Medicine, Cancer, Critical Care, and Casey Hospital.
“Our teams at Casey Hospital have been working through the complexities of these plans in the midst of an ongoing pandemic response, and their professionalism has been exemplary.”
