Important payroll changes – accessing your Income Statement (Payment Summary)

Changes to legislative payroll processes will affect the way employees access their Income Statement (Payment Summary) for the financial year ending 30 June 2021 and in the future. Monash Health no longer provides Income Statements to employees at the end of the financial year.

Income Statements can be accessed through the Australian Tax Office (ATO).

Year to Date Tax and Superannuation reports are sent to the ATO per pay cycle, giving the ATO ‘real-time reporting’. This means the ATO has a record of your income and superannuation payments throughout the year.

Single Touch Payroll (STP) is a mandatory change required by the ATO and will change how Monash Health Payroll currently reports PAYG and Superannuation.

Accessing your Income Statement (Payment Summary)

The ATO will notify you in early July when your Income Statement is complete so that you can lodge your tax return. If you use a Tax Agent, your Income Statement will be available to them.

You will no longer receive a Payment Summary by email or see a Payment Summary in HR21 (ESS).

Monash Health Payroll is unable to provide this information to you and you will need to access this information via MyGov.

What do I need to do?

It is recommended that you set up a MyGov account to access your Income Statement (Payment Summary) for this financial year and in the future. You will also be able to see Superannuation that has been reported to the ATO.

If you chose not to set up a MyGov account, you will need to contact the ATO on 13 28 61 to get a copy of your Income Statement. This is not provided by Monash Health Payroll.

For help setting up your MyGov account and linking your account to the ATO, you can watch this video.
