Victorian exposure sites / NSW travel zone updates
With the current outbreak in Sydney and cases entering Victoria, it is timely to remind ourselves about public exposure site listings and changes to travel zones.
Public exposure sites in Victoria
New public exposure sites have been identified in Victoria.
If people with COVID-19 have visited public exposure sites during their infectious periods, state health departments in Australia will publish the times and dates that other people may have been exposed to the virus.
Please ensure you regularly check the listing of public exposure sites and take the appropriate action if you were there at the listed times.
If you have visited a Tier 1 exposure site:
- Get tested immediately and on day 13 from the date of the exposure.
- Self-quarantine for 14 days. Do not attend work.
- Call the COVID-19 employee hotline on 9594 5815 (7am to 7pm – seven days a week).
- Contact your manager.
- Contact the Victorian Department of Health on 1300 651 160.
If you test negative on day 13, you can return to work after day 14 if you have no symptoms.
If you have visited a Tier 2 exposure site:
- Get tested immediately.
- Self-quarantine until you receive a negative result. Do not attend work.
- Contact your manager.
- Contact the COVID-19 Employee Hotline on 9594 5815 (7am to 7pm – seven days a week).
- Monitor for symptoms in the following two weeks post-exposure and repeat testing (and self-quarantine until the result is known) if symptoms develop.
You can return to work when you receive a negative result if you have no symptoms.
If you have visited a Tier 3 exposure site:
- Monitor for symptoms.
- If symptoms develop, get tested immediately.
- Self-quarantine until you get a negative result. Do not attend work while awaiting test result.
- Contact your manager.
Information for screening teams is available here.
Travel Zone Updates
If you are entering Victoria from another state in Australia or from New Zealand, you need to apply for a Victorian Travel Permit. When COVID-19 outbreaks occur outside of Victoria, the Victorian Department of Health utilises a ‘traffic light’ system to determine whether a COVID-19 test or period of self-quarantine is required when you enter Victoria.
Current travel updates change frequently and are available here:
https://www.coronavirus.vic.gov.au/victorian-travel-permit-system
Under Victoria’s travel permit system, all areas in New South Wales and the ACT are now red zones.
If you are returning to Victoria from a red zone:
- You must return straight home (or to your accommodation) in Victoria and self-quarantine for 14 days from the day you enter. Do not attend work.
- You must get tested within 72 hours of arrival and again on or around day 13 of quarantine.
- Call the COVID-19 employee hotline on 9594 5815 (7am to 7pm – seven days a week).
- Contact your manager.
If you test negative on day 13, you can return to work after day 14 if you have no symptoms.
All managers are requested to share these updates with their teams and discuss at stand-ups and handovers. Please print a copy and display it in communication books and on employee noticeboards.
As advice and information evolve, please regularly consult the latest updates by visiting the Victorian coronavirus website and the Monash Health COVID-19 website.
