Hundreds of Monash Health employees are taking to their local streets and ovals, having joined the virtual Winter Walk for Monash Children’s Hospital.

The Winter Walk kicked off on Saturday 21 August and runs until Monday 30 August.  The aim is to walk 10,000 steps per day, aiming for 100,000 steps over the ten days of the event.

Ron Fairchild, Director of the Monash Health Foundation, said that collectively all participants were well on their way to raising the goal of $100,000.

“Our steppers have raised more than $77,000 (as of noon on Monday) so we’re confident of breaking through our target. Participants have also completed more than 5.3 million steps so far, which is a great result,” said Ron.

This year’s virtual Winter Walk is raising funds to help purchase important equipment for MCH such as specialised physiotherapy chairs that help children who are challenged walking due to illness or injury, gain muscle strength and movement.

So support your colleagues as they step towards 100,000.

The first 2000 people to register receive a Monash Children’s Hospital Winter Walk medal.

There are also some terrific prizes for Monash Health employees to win, with thanks to Maxxia:

  • $250 Rebel Sport gift card for the top employee fundraiser.
  • $250 Rebel Sport gift card for the best photo for the best photo by an employee – as judged by Maxxia (and shared on the MCH Walk Facebook page).
  • Plus, all employee participants who raise $250 or more by 30 August will go into the draw for the chance to win a $250 Rebel gift card!
