As of 31 August 2021, we are pleased to advise Monash Health will commence a dedicated vaccination clinic at Monash Medical Centre (MMC) for both Pfizer and AstraZeneca.
A reminder that anyone aged 16 years and over can receive a COVID-19 vaccine. Young people aged 12-15 years are eligible to receive the vaccine if they have a specified medical condition (including severe mental health conditions), are Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, on the National Disability Insurance Scheme, and/or living with significant disability requiring frequent assistance with activities of daily living.
Initial Eligibility rationale
Initially, vaccinations will be made available to household members of those Monash Health employees who are at the highest risk of contracting COVID-19, similar to Phase 1a of the vaccination rollout. This approach is being taken to balance the current vaccination supply and minimise risk for our highest risk employees and their household members.
As further vaccine becomes available, we will expand the above household member eligibility criteria progressively beyond phase 1A groups and then subsequently to Monash Health employees extended family/partners.
Who is eligible?
Employees who work in the following areas will be able to book a vaccination appointment at MMC for members of their household:
- ICU
- ED
- COVID wards
- Aged Care
- Screening Clinics
- Vaccination Centres
- Maternity
- Code Blue / MET first responders
- Theatre staff
How to book
For eligible Monash Health employees (see above) who wish to make a COVID-19 vaccination appointment for their household members, please complete the following steps:
1. The Monash Health employee must make the booking with the household member present. Walk-ins for household members will not be accepted.
2. Call the COVID-19 Vaccination Hotline on (03) 8572 2156. Please note, the Hotline is open Monday to Friday (8am to 6pm) and Saturday to Sunday (9am to 4pm).
3. Ask to make a booking for your household member(s).
4. The employee will be asked for the following information:
- Are you currently employed at Monash Health
- Your Monash Health employee number
- Your work area (eligibility)
- Confirm the household member lives with you permanently
5. The following information regarding the household member will be asked:
- Personal information (first name, last name, address, etc.)
- Medicare details
- Any existing medical conditions
6. The household member is to then attend Clinic D, MMC at the booked date and time. There is no requirement for the employee to accompany the household member.
Next steps
When further vaccine supply and capacity is made available, we will expand eligibility. We will keep you updated and appreciate your patience.
Alternatively, eligible family and friends are encouraged to not to wait but book at one of our high-volume vaccination clinics at Sandown Racecourse or Cranbourne Turf Club. Details can be found at the Monash Health South East Public Health Unit website.
