World Physiotherapy Day, 8 September, is an opportunity to celebrate the important and trusted role physiotherapists play in improving the health, mobility, and independence of our patients.
This year’s theme focuses on rehabilitation and Long COVID, and the role of physiotherapists in the treatment and management of those affected.
1 in 10 of all Long COVID cases will exhibit symptoms for 12 weeks or longer. Physiotherapists will play a key role in delivering safe and effective rehabilitation, which is fundamental to recovery.
Across Monash Health, our physiotherapists have a multitude of roles and broad-ranging skills. This includes working in the frontline in our Emergency Departments and critical care areas, to rehabilitative roles within our wards, sub-acute, and community areas.
The physiotherapists at Monash Health play an important role in assisting patients in the recovery from COVID-19 and Long COVID.
To find out more information about the role of physiotherapists globally, visit the World Physiotherapy website.
To all Monash Health physiotherapists, Happy World Physiotherapy Day!
