Monash Health Heroes raise $18,382 for blood cancer

Eight brave Monash Health employees across our workforce have banded together to raise a remarkable $18,382 for the Leukaemia Foundation’s World’s Greatest Shave 2021.

Earlier this year, eight of our very own employees banded together, formed the ‘Monash Health Heroes’, changed their looks, and raised money to support their patients diagnosed with blood cancer.

Fundraising efforts looked different this year due to COVID-19, but the Monash Health Heroes did not let a global pandemic stop them!

The team raised an incredible amount of money, the largest amount ever raised by the Monash Health Heroes team.

By the end of today, 47 Australians will need to tell their families that they are now facing blood cancer, and life must stop as they navigate the scary moments ahead. And so, for them and the 47 people who will hear the same words tomorrow, our team of heroes changed their look to give those diagnosed with blood cancer hope.

Financial strain and hardship can follow a cancer diagnosis. The money raised will help families meet costs such as rent, putting food on the table, or paying bills.

Our Monash Health Heroes team consisted of the following brave and selfless individuals:

  • Sanjeev Chunilal (Haematology Consultant)
  • Jess Gray (Nurse – Ward 44)
  • Alyssa Jopling (Nurse – Ward 44)
  • Monique Pedetti (Nurse Manager Clinical Trials Centre) and her daughter Robyn Pedetti
  • Amanda DuToit (Nurse – Ward 44)
  • Tatyana Egorova (Pharmacist) and her husband Noor

Monash Health congratulates each of our Monash Health Heroes and thank everyone who donated to the team. You have all helped make an enormous positive change to our patients with blood cancers and their families.

Approved by Louise Kanis.
