At Monash Health, the role of an Aboriginal Hospital Liaison Officer is to provide cultural support and assistance to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients and their families during their inpatient stay.
This is a valuable service for Aboriginal inpatients, and Aboriginal Hospital Liaison Officer’s can now be contacted through the pager system making the service more accessible.
How it works
Step 1
To contact the Aboriginal Hospital Liasion Service, access the LanPage icon on your computer desktop and enter the relevant Aboriginal Hospital Liasion Service pager number for your location.
Step 2
Leave a message asking for the Aboriginal Hospital Liaison Officer to attend to the patient and a contact or extension number.
Step 3
After paging, an Aboriginal Hospital Liaison Officer will contact the patient and treating medical team to let them know that they can assist in the patient’s care.
This service operates Monday – Friday, 8 am – 5 pm and is available for any matters relating to Aboriginal inpatients.
