Chief Executive Special Series: 19 October – Dr Cameron Wolfe COVID-19 Q&A Sessions Video 1

Special Series: Dr Cameron Wolfe COVID-19 Q&A Sessions

Dr Cameron Wolfe discusses his team’s experiences during COVID-19 and gives words of encouragement to Monash Health teams.

As we edge toward the end of lockdown this Friday, we know the next phase of the pandemic will bring with it a fresh set of challenges. Over the next few months, what might happen to the healthcare system has been an ongoing storyline within the media and on social channels.

Many will have an opinion about what may transpire. I would encourage you all to continue seeking information from credible sources, such as Monash Health alum Dr Cameron Wolfe, who has firsthand experience leading his teams through the pandemic in the US.

As Associate Professor of Medicine at Duke University Hospital, North Carolina, Cameron is well-placed to give valuable insights into what it’s like to work with high numbers of COVID-19 admissions during COVID peaks. Moreover, he is one of the first people to have received the Pfizer vaccine as part of early clinical trials in 2020, with firsthand experience and knowledge of the efficacy and effects of vaccination.

I recently recorded a series of Q and A sessions with Cameron, which I will share with you over the coming days. Each video expands on topics related to working in healthcare during the pandemic, vaccination and the Delta variant, among others.

In our first conversation, Cameron describes what his teams are experiencing and the coping mechanisms that ensure employee wellbeing and patient standards are kept high. There’s also a special message of encouragement from Cameron to Monash Health teams at the end.

Whether your activities are COVID-related or not, clinical or within clinical support roles, you are all making a difference. I appreciate that a lot has been asked of you and that more will be asked of each of us in the coming weeks, so I want to thank you all for your extraordinary efforts so far and remind you how far we’ve come.

Regardless of how things evolve or how the landscape changes, your dedication to the task at hand, our patients, and each other has and will stand us in good stead. Please continue to rely on genuine voices of experience and your teammates at Monash Health as we work through this next phase together.

Watch the video and hear Cameron discuss his team’s experiences and give words of encouragement to everyone at Monash Health.

Thank you.
