This week we mark Thank Your Cleaner Day, an opportunity to show our appreciation for and thank the hard-working patient services employees across Monash Health.
We value the important work of our patient services teams as they ensure a safe, clean and hygienic environment across our sites for all employees, visitors and patients.
In honour of Thank Your Cleaner Day, we spoke to Anabela Govinde Ramji who has been working as a cleaner at Monash Health for 15 years, currently in Specialist Consulting as a Patient Service Assistant.
When discussing the demands of her role, Anabela shared that a typical day could include anything from cleaning to stocking shelves. She added her team has really increased their efforts in the past two years since the pandemic started.
“It’s really changed our life, we have to keep on top of everything because safety is so important for both patients and staff.”
“Our workload has increased, and we are trying to do our best. I’m here to support Monash Health and make sure everything is thoroughly cleaned so no one gets sick.”
When asked what her role means to her and the importance of the work she does, Anabela added it was lovely for her efforts to be recognised on Thank Your Cleaner Day.
“It is my privilege to do this job. I have been here for so long, this is my home and family and I thank you for recognising the work we do.”
When discussing her favourite part about working as a cleaner at Monash Health, Anabela shared that it was “everything”.
“Our managers always support us in every respect, and our colleagues always work together as a team. The admin staff and unit managers are also lovely and always support me.”
“I have learned so much since I’ve been here, and I don’t think I’d fit in anywhere else.”
Thank Your Cleaner Day is endorsed by Karcher, for more information on its importance and acknowledgment around the world, visit their website.
To all the cleaners at Monash Health, we say thank you for all your hard work, commitment and tireless effort you put in to ensure our sites are clean and safe for all.
