Join us for the 2021 Length of Service Awards
This year we recognise over 1500 people who have made a lengthy and meaningful contribution to Monash Health, with four virtual events celebrating their length of service.
I would like to thank all of this year’s recipients for everything they have given of themselves to ensure we provide excellent care to our community.
Among those we are celebrating this year are two women who have reached the remarkable milestone of 55 years of service – the longest we have celebrated as an organisation.
It is worth thinking back to the time they started with Monash Health’s predecessors, one of them on the day decimal currency was introduced in Australia, in February 1966. It is incredible to think about how much has changed in public health since that time.
These two special people are Helen Gilbert, who started her Monash Health career as a lab scientist at the Queen Victoria Hospital, and Marilyn Lewis, who answered an advertisement for a secretary at the Mordialloc and Chelsea Community Hospital, and is still working at Moorabbin Hospital now.
Our length of service events tell us a lot about our organisation and about our people and the intangible essence of a health service, which offers so many experiences to grow, to change, to learn and to challenge and be challenged – both personally and professionally.
To deliver excellence in healthcare, we need people who share our vision. People like these, who have shown years of commitment and dedication.
I hope you will join with me, Monash Health Board Chair, Dipak Sanghvi and all of the executive, as we celebrate these milestones by joining in with the celebrations, starting on Wednesday night.
Please take some time to review the list of recipients, perhaps reach out to the long serving colleagues you know with a special message of thanks, and tune in as we walk back through the years and hear some very special voices.
The details of all award recipients are online, along with event details and how you can join the celebration on Facebook too.
This is one small way we can show we are grateful and proud of their remarkable contribution.
Congratulations to all our team members who have achieved significant career milestones this year.
