Janette Gogler recognised as one of Telstra Health’s 2021 Brilliant Women in Digital Health

Janette Gogler, Deputy Chief Nursing and Midwifery Information Officer, has been recognised for her outstanding work in digital health over her career by being awarded as one of Telstra Health’s 2021 Brilliant Women in Digital Health.

These awards set out to recognise and celebrate women in digital health for their outstanding achievements while raising awareness about the opportunities in the sector and inspiring others to follow their lead.

Janette describes herself as a “pioneer, pragmatist and advocate” in nursing informatics and has been instrumental in adopting digital technologies at Monash Health to improve patient safety and clinical workflows for nurses and midwives.

Janette has been influential in establishing and shaping some of Victoria’s earliest and largest electronic medical record (EMR) implementations. She has also contributed and facilitated the roll-out and continued improvements in EMR and other digital platforms including our new Delegate meal ordering system at Monash Health.

Janette said she is passionate about digital health as “years of nursing in many different roles provided me the opportunity to see how digital health can impact patients, communities and clinicians”.

“My specific areas of passion include providing nurses with the right digital tools that are embedded into workflows at the point of care; using coded nursing data to demonstrate the value of nursing care, and creating user interfaces that enable rather than inhibit clinicians to document key data for information exchange.”
