Over the last four months, the Browns Road South shuttle bus completed an average of 181 trips per day transporting employees to and from Monash Medical Centre. This is no mean feat, with almost 14,300 passengers transported since July!
If you’re one of those 14,300 employees, you’ll have met shuttle bus driver Michael Swan, who has been responsible for ensuring everyone arrives to work safely each day.
When asked what he enjoys most about his role, Michael said he appreciates the different people he gets to meet and engage with during every trip.
“I have the opportunity to talk to different people, engage with different personalities and people of different nationalities.”
Many employees appreciate the positive energy Michael brings to his role with the following feedback shared during an Employee Forum.
“Just a quick shout out to Michael our shuttle bus driver – every day he is prompt and greets us with a smile. Cheers Michael.”
Amongst the many employees, Michael transports daily, among his biggest fans is five-year-old Mason, son of Ebony La Posta, Clinical Midwife Specialist at Monash Health. Ebony and Mason use the shuttle bus every day, and Mason looks forward to sharing stories and singing songs with Michael.
Ebony shared that the shuttle bus service has helped ensure herself and Mason get to work and childcare safely, removing additional stress from their morning routine and creating a fun start to their day.
Ebony added that Mason also likes to help Michael by telling all the passengers to put on their seat belts and ensure they use the QR code to check-in.

The shuttle bus service operates on-demand between Monash Medical Centre North Entrance and Browns Road South car park on weekdays during peak hours (6:40am – 10:15am and 3:00pm – 10:20pm). In the afternoon, the shuttle bus can also offer to drop you off closer to your car.
The service is free to all Monash Health employees and does not run to a regular bus timetable. It will wait at Browns Road South car park for passengers in the morning, and at night it will wait at the Clayton entrance for passengers. As soon as there are passengers, the bus will complete a run, with an average turnaround trip is 4 minutes.
Thank you Michael for the work you do every day in ensuring the safety of employees.
