To enable nurses to focus on the care provision of COVID and SCOVID patients, a comprehensive care plan has been created in the EMR. This care plan covers the key risk areas of falls, pressure, nutrition and cognition. It will automatically be suggested for patients with COVID and SCOVID.
Nurses will not be required to undertake the usual risk assessments for falls, pressure, nutrition and cognition for this cohort of patients. It is expected that they are at high risk for all these key risk areas.
These specific patient groups will now have two care plans suggested that cover all the general care of the patients:
- Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) Care Plan – current
- Comprehensive Care Plan (During COVID-19 Surge) – new
Nurses are expected to initiate these two care plans and use the plans to enter patient-specific care requirements and sign each shift.
