Monash Health Cleaning Advisory Group win the Project of the Year Award

Our Cleaning Advisory Group has been awarded Project of the Year at the Victorian Institute of Hospitality in Healthcare (IHHC) awards.

This award recognises the excellent work of our Cleaning Advisory Group and General Services teams in driving significant changes and service improvements across Monash Health sites.

The Cleaning Advisory Group comprises clinical operations directors and support services managers from each of the main Monash Health sites, consumer representatives, nurse managers and infection prevention personnel. This group have been instrumental in implementing weekly site walkarounds by support services managers and directors of operations to monitor performance and raise awareness that cleaning is everyone’s responsibility.

Furthermore, the group has introduced monthly patient experience audits to provide feedback in all inpatient units, along with cleaning matrixes that identify whose responsibility it is to clean equipment.

The Cleaning Advisory Group were nominated for this award by Support Services Director, Sharon McNulty who says everyone was excited to have won.

“I sent out an email straight after the award announcement, and they were just thrilled to be recognised for all the work they’ve put in – it’s been huge! It is a lovely way to recognise our team for the amazing effort and particularly for the conditions they’ve had to work under over the last 20 or so months. The fact that they’ve still been able to deliver the results they have and pull off this project is really something – I think we can all be proud of what we’ve achieved by working together.”

The Cleaning Advisory Group will be invited to the National IHHC awards in February of next year and will be featured in the IHHC National Magazine.

Congratulations to all involved for this remarkable achievement.
