Two new resources have been developed to help clinicians recognise and respond to sepsis and improve patient care.
New Sepsis Alert on EMR
A new Sepsis alert is now available in the EMR. The alert was developed to expedite recognition and response to sepsis and is triggered when a patient’s observations reach 3 or more of the criteria below and will appear on the nurse’s EMR screen.
- Temperature <35.6 or >38.4
- Reduced GCS >2 pts or new onset of confusion
- Bands >10%
- Glucose >7.8mmol/L (excl diabetes)
- Systolic BP <100mmHg
- MAP <65mmHg
- Sp02 <93%
- Bilirubin > 35.0mmol/L
The alert reads as follows:
New ‘Sepsis in adults: Recognition & Response’ Procedure on PROMPT
Working in conjunction with the EMR Alert, a new ‘Sepsis in adults: Recognition & Response’ Pathway Procedure has been developed and is now available on PROMPT.
Please read and familiarise yourself with this new procedure and share it with your clinical colleagues.
