Available for all our employees, the Digital Wellbeing Series by the Resilience Project includes ten three-minute videos covering topics such as gratitude, emotional literacy, sleep and exercise.
The exercises are short and easy to integrate into everyday life, with a focus on active participation and consistency. Each month we will put the spotlight on a different topic and share new strategies you can slowly introduce into your daily routine to help prioritise your health and mental wellbeing.
Research shows that actively including wellbeing activities into your day can increase your capacity to deal with adversity, change and challenges that may arise.
We understand that you may feel like you don’t have the time or emotional energy to add more tasks to your day right now, but these exercises can be done in as little as 1 minute a day and over time can help you achieve improved outcomes for your wellbeing.
This month the focus is: Gratitude.
To practice gratitude is to be thankful for what you have, rather than focusing on what you don’t have.
If you find yourself worrying about the things you don’t have it can leave you feeling unhappy, and you miss out on enjoying the things that are right in front of you. If you can become more thankful for the things you have, you can increase your happiness and improve your overall mental health.
If you would like to become a more grateful person, it takes practice and consistency, like any other new habit you are trying to form. There are several strategies and techniques to help you become more grateful, and these include:
- At the end of each day, write down three things that went well for you during the day and write down something you are looking forward to tomorrow
- At the end of the week, reflect on what you are most proud of that happened during the week
Research shows if you continue this exercise for 21 days, you’ll begin to look for the good things around you which will make you a happier person and improve your mental health. If you continue this exercise for 42 days, you’ll see improved benefits including becoming more optimistic, increased focus and energy, improved sleep and decreased mental ill-health.

You can access all 10 topics of the Digital Wellbeing Series. However, the spotlights aim to help you focus on one topic at a time. To make new lasting habits, it is important to start small, add in one change at a time and to remain consistent. If you feel more comfortable, you can complete all modules in your own time.
