A huge congratulations to all our Monash Health Imaging employees who took part in the Melbourne Teams Triathlon in Elwood over the weekend. Porters, nurses, radiologists, technologists, sonographers, medical physicists, administration and people in leadership roles all got involved, with many more coming along to cheer on the competitors.
Fourteen teams comprised of 39 employees from Monash Health Imaging competed in the triathlon, which consisted of a 400m swim, 10km bike ride and 4km run. With fun team names like “The Tri Hards” and “Straight off the couch”, you know they enjoyed themselves.
Since the beginning of January, these teams have been putting in the work with coaching and training sessions that have involved breathtaking (sometimes literally) enthusiasm and banter.
In the lead up, the training increasingly became the talk of the department, with colleagues rallying around and supporting them every stroke, pedal and step of the way.
Dr Lee Anne Slater, Neuro-Interventional Radiologist, arranged for the Imaging program’s participation to foster fitness, friendship, and well-being in the workplace.
Dr Slater dedicated a significant amount of her own time preparing our teams to compete in the event. She’s expressed joy and fulfillment in seeing colleagues partaking in training sessions, sharing a laugh and a well-deserved break from the frontline.
Dr Sasha Stanislavsky assisted Dr Slater in the coordination of the event.
“I’ve just been blown away by the commitment and camaraderie of our people. Particularly the ones who are really stepping out of their comfort zone, preparing and training for this. It’s very rewarding to see and hopefully they will find it a really rewarding experience.”
Everyone in attendance—both competing and supporting—have inspired us to look forward to many, many more Imaging Program events such as this.
