Join Olympians Steph Prem and Dean Hewitt in conversation at our Employee Health and Wellbeing Forum, 2pm on Thursday 17 March.
Steph and Dean will talk about building the resilience it takes to be an Olympic athlete, and how they used that resilience to overcome disappointment, adversity and injury. They both have powerful stories to tell, and you’ll have a chance to ask them a question about their journeys.
As a five-time Australian Snowboardcross Champion, Steph is a role model in the health and wellbeing space and an advocate for living a healthy and balanced lifestyle. She has commentated three times at the Winter Olympic Games, she’s a qualified personal trainer, Clinical Pilates instructor, and founder of Studio PP, a wellness and Pilates studio in Melbourne.
In 2010 Steph suffered a career-ending injury at the World Cup finals in Italy, but she dedicated herself to developing the resilience to overcome the pain and rehabilitate her body.
Steph will interview fellow Olympian Dean Hewitt, who’s fresh off the plane from the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic Games. Dean made history with his teammate Tahli Gill when they qualified to compete in the mixed doubles curling tournament, becoming the first Australian curling team to qualify for any event in the curling discipline.
Dean overcame countless obstacles on the road to his Olympic dream, and Dean and Tahli were dealt one of the toughest hands possible for the games. They were the only team to compete in curling without a dedicated curling rink in their home country, and they were forced in and out of isolation throughout the games because of multiple positive and negative COVID tests. Despite the hardships, Dean and Tahli finished the event with wins against the 2018 Olympic Gold and Silver Medallists.
Even though they’re Olympians, Steph and Dean both have lots of practical tips to share that we can apply every day to help build our own resilience.
You can find the event listing here, and we’ll send out an all staff email closer to the event with the details you’ll need to attend.
