Demountable units at Casey Hospital

With Casey Hospital experiencing unprecedented demand for emergency care, temporary demountable units will be installed adjacent to the current emergency department.

Specifically designed to meet community needs, these new clinical facilities will include resuscitation, negative pressure, and general emergency cubicles.

The facilities in the demountable units include:

  • Negative airflow rooms
  • Dirty Utility, Clean Utility
  • Staff base
  • Nurse station
  • Employee break room
  • Bathrooms

The units will be installed on a car park currently accessed via Entrance 2 that is currently used by patients, visitors, and some employees.

This project is being carefully planned so there is no reduction in parking availability for employees at any time during installation or once the units are operational.

Installation of the units will take place in a two-stage process, with some visitor/patient car parking spaces to become unavailable from 13 April, and the rest of the car park to temporarily close from 17 May and reopened soon after.

To ensure employee parking is available an alternative car park has been secured nearby, adjacent to St John of God Hospital.

Wayfinding signs and traffic control measures will be in place to ensure employees and visitors are able to find a car park and walk safely to Casey Hospital.
