Supporting you on your quit journey

Monash Health supports a smoke-free environment for all employees, visitors and patients. Our responsibility as a large health provider is to lead by example in creating a safe, smoke-free workplace and a caring, supportive environment to help people who want to quit smoking.

Quit recently launched a six-week campaign. The campaign highlights the help that people can get through their quitting journey and that every attempt, no matter how small, is a step in the right direction.

Watch the video below:

As soon as you make the decision to quit, your body starts to repair. There are also the many immediate and long-term benefits that come when you quit smoking. You breathe easier, have more energy, smell better and you can save money.

Break-free from smoking

It can be overwhelming to know where to start.

Knowing how to navigate the quitting journey and having the support of friends and family can make all the difference. Every day without cigarettes is doing you good. To increase your chances of quitting for good, Quit and Monash Health are here to help.

If you need assistance, we encourage you to:

  1. talk to Quitline (13 7848) Monday to Friday, 8am to 8pm or request a call back via the online form on the Quit website. If you speak a language other than English (LOTE), you can chat with a Quitline counsellor through Quitline’s interpreter service.
  2. use stop smoking medication, like the nicotine patch and gum
  3. speak with your GP. Your GP can discuss your options and give you a script for cheaper stop smoking medication.

If you speak a language other than English, Quitline counsellors can chat with you in your language through an interpreter service.
