In line with the announcement by the Victorian Government in relation to the new BA.4 and BA.5 COVID variants, the reinfection/close contact period for COVID-19 has been shortened from 12 weeks to four weeks.
The four-week period is:
- when you are considered likely to be protected from subsequent COVID-19 infection and therefore are not deemed a close contact after an exposure, and
- the period when you should not have asymptomatic testing performed
If you do have symptoms, you can still be tested in the four-week period.
If you develop COVID-19 symptoms four weeks or more after having COVID-19, stay home and get tested.
If you live with someone who gets COVID-19 more than four weeks after you have COVID-19, you must take a RAT on at least five of the next seven days.
If you test positive using a RAT you should isolate for seven days, notify Monash Health using this form* and let your manager know. You will also need to notify the Department of Health of the test result.
*Please note that if the ‘Staff COVID Positive Notification’ form isn’t loading, please clear your browser cache and reload.
