Chief Executive Update – Congratulations on a successful accreditation

Chief Executive Update – 19 August 2022

Congratulations on a successful accreditation

This week we welcomed assessors to Monash Health for our National Standards accreditation assessment.

Twenty-one assessors met with our teams across nine sites, including 140 clinical areas, and 20 of our community services. Thousands of pages of evidence were reviewed, and 151 actions across the eight National Standards were assessed.

After considerable preparation and our fifth attempt at our accreditation assessment, it was more than numbers that counted; it was our people, the care, and the conversations.

Making our way through the pandemic, rising to the challenges, sometimes in real-time and maintaining our standards shows the calibre of our teams and your dedication. This is appreciated not only by the management team, but more importantly, our patients and the community we serve.

I am incredibly proud of how you presented yourselves and our organisation over the week.

While we know that accreditation is an opportunity for us to showcase the work we do for our patients, consumers and each other, every day, I am acutely aware that a great deal of planning goes into preparing for the survey so we can indeed shine.

While the final report is still a few weeks away, the feedback received from the assessors has been extremely favourable, and I am pleased to report that we have completed a successful accreditation.

This afternoon, at a special accreditation employee forum, I was joined by our lead assessor, Kaye Smith, and the team of assessors who shared their praise, discussed areas of interest, and were thankful for the welcome you gave them at Monash Health. If you missed it, please take some time to watch the recording here.

In the coming days and weeks, we will share feedback from the assessors, their areas of interest and their recommendations and suggestions.

While our formal accreditation assessment is now complete, and as we wait for the final report, it is important to remember that the National Standards are an ongoing process and that we must remain accreditation-ready at all times.

Thank you for your enthusiasm, the way you have engaged with this process, and the commitment to your work and the community we serve.
