We came together last week for Monash Health’s 2022 Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Open Board and reflected on a year that COVID-19 again challenged every part of our organisation and explored the theme of ‘connecting with our purpose as we plan for the future’.
The event began with our Power of Purpose video, which gives just a small insight into the work we do each day. Board Chair Dipak Sanghvi and Chief Executive Professor Andrew Stripp shared our results and reflected on the past year, speaking to the hard work, dedication, and resilience we’ve seen once again across our health service.
“Our people rose to the challenges of the past years and now we look to the future with a purposeful vision. We have lived through a unique time. We understand not only the dedication and commitment, but the courage required to innovate, emerge with new knowledge, and face what will come with hope and the determination to strive to do great things.” said Andrew.
We then heard from leadership mentor and mindset coach, Ben Crowe on how we reconnect with our purpose, embracing vulnerability and find perspective and growth in difficult times. Ben began his chat with Andrew by first thanking Monash Health “Monash Health is one of my favourite organisations on the planet…you have literally saved my family’s life once or twice, so without getting emotional I just want to say thank you.”
Ben explored the need to find balance and purpose, and to control the things we can control, so we look after ourselves in order to be able to care for our patients and those who are important to us.
Disability Consumer Advisory Committee Co-Chair Sue Viney and Disability Initiatives Lead Kellie Hammerstein opened up in an interview with Andrew on their personal purpose and how purpose is driving the development of our new Disability Action Plan.
For a detailed look into the extraordinary year for our health service, you are invited to read the Monash Health Annual Report 2021-22. The report is testament to the work of all employees, volunteers, and advisors.
