Meet our new Executive Director of People and Culture

Say hello to Chris McLoughlin, the new Executive Director of People and Culture at Monash Health.

Chris started her career at the age of 22 as a social worker in child protection and gives credit to one of her early managers for setting her on her leadership journey.

“I’m very grateful for that start because I think the people we work with in our early years really do help to shape us. Despite the variety of challenges we faced in that role, my manager always treated people with respect.”

Chris comes to the role of Executive Director of People and culture with extensive experience from multiple sectors, including executive leadership roles at Alfred Health, KPMG and ABnote.

“I have a passion for developing individuals, teams and culture,” says Chris.

Chris brings both strategic and operational skills and capabilities across the people and culture portfolio. She is committed to improving people systems and processes.

“In terms of leadership, I think it’s really important to know that people are very different,’ says Chris. “What works for one person doesn’t work for another person.”

While we extend a warm welcome to Chris, we’d also like to say thank you and farewell to Karen Lowe, who is retiring from the role this month. Karen has been with Monash Health since 2017 and has been an immensely important and valuable part of the Executive team.

Monash Health has greatly benefited from Karen’s focus, wisdom and resilience, and her legacy will be felt for many years to come. We wish Karen all the best in her retirement as she enjoys travel, food, family and, of course, her dog Freddie.

Over the past month, Chris and Karen have worked alongside each other to ensure a smooth transition. Please say hello and make Chris feel welcome to the Monash Health team!
