All Monash Health Nurses – AMC Medication Queue
Nurses across Monash Health will note a new EMR menu item become visible. This is in preparation for the Victorian Heart Hospital (VHH) Go-Live. While all nurses across Monash Health sites will see the ‘AMC Medication Queue’ – this menu item will not be used at current Monash Health sites.
The function is specific to VHH nurses so that medications can be removed from the secure Automated Medication Cabinets. Nursing teams at the VHH will become familiar with the AMC Medication Queue prior to Go-Live.

All Monash Health Nurses, Doctors & Dietitians – Enteral/NSAM product ordering and food allergy checking in EMR
All Monash Health nurses, doctors and dietitians please note, new functionality is being introduced into the EMR to support safer ordering of Enteral/NSAM products for patients with known food allergies.
Currently, when Enteral/NSAM products are ordered in EMR, the system will alert the ordering user if the patient has a documented allergy to key ingredients in the product such as milk, fish, shellfish, soy or wheat. The alert can be overridden if appropriate, with a reason for override required.
Reverse allergy checking will also occur if an allergy to one of these is documented in the patient chart and the patient already has an active Enteral/NSAM product order.
As always, patient allergies should be confirmed with the patient prior to placing Enteral/NSAM product orders. Employees should seek assistance with product selection and options from Dietetics if required.
