Chief Executive Alert – Changes to admission testing and updated advice on COVID-19 vaccination

Changes to admission testing
From Thursday 16 February 2023, COVID-19 PCR screening for overnight admissions and subacute transfers will cease when there are no symptoms of COVID-19 present. This is in line with the current level of risk.

As we have done in the past, we will continue to adjust our COVID-19 settings in response to COVID-19 inpatient numbers and community infection rates.

Reducing the risk of transmission remains a priority, and there are no changes to our early symptomatic testing, isolation procedures, correct PPE and mask use, or hand hygiene protocols.

For detail about which PPE to use in different working situations continue to refer to our PPE Compulsory Standards.

Updated guidance on COVID-19 Vaccination
ATAGI has provided guidance that if your last COVID-19 vaccine or confirmed infection was six months ago or longer:

  • A vaccine booster dose is recommended for:
    • All adults aged > 65 years.
    • Adults aged 18-64 years who have medical conditions that put them at risk of severe COVID-19 infection.
  • The below should consider a booster dose:
    • All adults aged 18-64 years.
    • Those aged 5-17 years who have medical conditions that put them at risk of severe COVID-19 infection.

Vaccinations continue to be available at your GP or chemist, at the Monash Immunisation clinic at Monash Medical Centre Clayton, or at our pop-up clinics.

Visit the Employee Vaccination Hub on the Monash Health COVID-19 website for details of the pop-up clinics.

And remember, if you are feeling unwell, test and remain off work for seven days if COVID-19 positive. If you test positive for COVID-19, please let your manager know and complete our online COVID-19 Positive Notification Form.

Thank you for helping keep our patients and your colleagues safe.
