Give a warm Monash Health welcome to Dani Smith, our new General Manager of our Children’s Program and Monash Children’s Hospital.
Dani is a highly skilled healthcare professional with over 20 years of experience.
“I started my career at the Royal Children’s Hospital as a graduate nurse,” says Dani. “I was drawn to nursing because I wanted to make a difference by helping people. Working with children, you’re also making sure the experience is right for the patient and the parent.”
Dani worked her way through postgraduate studies and several different clinical areas before moving into management. She has held a variety of leadership roles at the Royal Children’s Hospital, including Director of Ambulatory Services, COVID-19 Coordinator and Acting Chief Operating Officer.
“I always had a passion for leadership,” says Dani. “I enjoy the innovation and change that can come with leadership, and I also enjoy enhancing people and helping them achieve their goals. Collaboration is important to me, and leadership is nothing without collaboration.”
Dani is impressed by the welcoming reception she received at Monash Children’s Hospital.
“I’ve met lots of amazing people and everyone’s shared their journey through Monash Health. It’s a very complex world, but it’s certainly one that’s been very open and friendly from the beginning.”
Dani is looking forward to a bright future for the Monash Children’s Hospital.
“I’m excited about getting to know the team and understanding the future of where the team see the direction of Monash Children’s Services. I look forward to working with them in a collaborative way, across all disciplines as well as understanding from our consumers where we need to go and how we can grow and develop.”
Please say hello and make Dani feel welcome!
