Do you have a new idea for how we could reach our sustainability targets for Monash Health?
We invite you to suggest creative and innovative ideas for sustainability practices and adaptions to support our sustainability targets and actions in the Monash Health Sustainability Action Plan 2021-2026.
Monash Health is committed to mitigating our contributions to global warming and adapting to new environmental conditions. We know that climate impacts are already being felt, and there is great optimism about the opportunities rapid action will provide.
Our Sustainability Action Plan 2021-2026 sets out our outcomes, objectives, actions and key performance indicators to guide and monitor progress towards the strategic goals in six priority action areas. We are currently aiming to achieve the following targets by 2026:
Waste management
- General waste going to landfill reduced by 10%
- Food waste entering landfill is reduced by 25%
Procurement
- Product packaging is reduced by 30%
Buildings and infrastructure
- New capital works projects to be powered by renewable energy
- New capital works projects source recycled water for non-potable use
- Reduce potable water consumption by 10%
Energy efficiency and emissions
- Overall GHG emissions are reduced by 33%
- Monash Health is certified carbon neutral by 2030
Transport and travel
- 25% of Fleet cars are zero emission vehicles
Organisational culture
- Employees contribute to sustainability initiatives
When submitting your suggestion, please include research or in-practice experience where possible. This is vital for our working groups to assess the viability of the proposal.
We also ask that with each submission, you exercise patience and understanding as not all proposals can be delivered. However, we will prioritise the best solutions that can help meet our targets.
