This week Monash Health Board Chair, Dipak Sanghvi, announced that after seven years, Chief Executive, Professor Andrew Stripp, would be leaving Monash Health in June to take up a new role.
The announcement to all employees follows:
I am writing to share the news that Chief Executive, Professor Andrew Stripp, will be leaving Monash Health in June as he has accepted the role of Group Chief Executive at Epworth HealthCare. My fellow Board Members and I would like to extend our gratitude and thank Andrew for his exemplary service and leadership throughout his tenure.
Andrew has been pivotal in steering Victoria’s largest health service and workforce through some of the most challenging times in recent history. Notably, he has spearheaded innovation and improvements that will directly impact and improve the lives of so many, including our patients, families, local, national and international communities, and our people here at Monash Health.
I am pleased to advise that Chief Operating Officer, Martin Keogh, will be the interim Chief Executive while recruitment commences for a successor. Over the coming months, Martin will be supported by the Board, Andrew and the Executive team, who have ably led the organisation through many periods of change and will continue to do so. Further details will be shared as the transition plan is implemented.
Please join my fellow Board Members and me in congratulating Andrew on his new role. He will be missed, but we can agree he has built an incredible legacy that future generations will learn and benefit from.
Through his actions and his words, it is clear to see Andrew’s deep respect and pride for the people of Monash Health. I want to share what he has to say with you all.
“Over the past seven years, I have had the great privilege of leading Monash Health, and I am incredibly proud of all we have achieved together.
Through an extraordinary time in history, you have embraced innovation like the Electronic Medical Record, adopted new models of care throughout the pandemic, implemented one of the most significant COVID vaccination programs, delivered Australia’s first dedicated heart hospital, and much more. Our role and position as a leading Academic medical centre is strong and continues to develop nationally and internationally. All while maintaining the ethos of our strategic intent and values.
Your drive to provide the absolute best to your community has seen us build a culture of innovation and improvement for the care you give today and the care we wish to see in the future.
And it is this commitment to excellence, your remarkable capability, and the determination and heart you have shown throughout any challenge, that stands you in great stead to shape and inform positive impact into the future.
Undoubtedly the future will continue to bring challenges and triumphs, but the spirit and professionalism you bring to Monash Health have set you up for success and always will. You have proven yourselves capable of extraordinary things. And from whichever role I undertake, I look forward to watching you positively impact public health and move from strength to strength.
You are an incredible team that will ensure Monash Health remains a force to be reckoned with at the forefront of exceptional care.”
