We are thrilled to congratulate Professor Eric Morand on his appointment as Dean of the Sub-Faculty of Clinical and Molecular Medicine, a newly established sub-faculty of Monash University’s Faculty of Medicine based at Monash Health.
Based within our translation precinct, the sub-faculty will integrate the School of Clinical Sciences (SCS), Hudson Institute of Medical Research, Monash Centre for Health Research and Implementation, and Victorian Heart Institute. It will drive cutting-edge research from discovery to implementation and help drive our mission to create world-class health outcomes for our patients.
“Professor Morand’s leadership and commitment to research have been integral to Monash Health’s growth and success,” said Professor Andrew Stripp, Chief Executive. “We are very pleased by this appointment and are looking forward to seeing the new sub-faculty go from strength to strength under his leadership.”
Since 2011, Professor Morand has been the Head of the SCS at Monash Health, and since 2012, he has been the Director of Rheumatology. Under his outstanding leadership, our rheumatology service has become the largest in Australia, with a well-known reputation for clinical excellence and training. Along with these achievements, Professor Morand has been a long-standing advocate for clinician-researchers, early-career practitioners, students and women and science, leading the establishment of several fellowship programs, the SCS Women in Science Discovery and Medicine program and the Women’s Career Development Fellowship scheme for women in science and medicine, which have been hugely successful in increasing academic success rates and promoting equity and diversity.
The establishment of the Sub-Faculty of Clinical and Molecular Medicine is an exciting development, and we look forward to seeing its continued success. We are proud to be part of a partnership that is pushing the boundaries of clinical research and creating solutions for the future.
