Welcome to Monash Health | 25 May 2023

As Victoria’s largest public health service, we continue to support and recruit strong, experienced leaders. Some of our newest appointments have built their careers with us over many years. Others come to Monash Health with equally impressive resumes from across Australia and around the world.

Each brings to Monash Health a wealth of skills, experience and expertise.

We are pleased to welcome these people to the team.

Deputy Chief Operating Officer, Women’s and Children – Andrea Rindt

Andrea Rindt has been appointed Deputy Chief Operating Officer (DCOO), Women’s and Children.

As the current General Manager of the Women’s and Newborn Program, Andrea will be a familiar face to many of you. Andrea’s committed and enthusiastic approach to her role as General Manager has seen her motivate and lead her team to succeed through changing times for over five years. She also spent the early part of her career at Monash Health between 2004 and 2010 with positions as Associate Midwifery Unit Manager and Midwifery Unit Manager – Birth Suite.

Andrea’s contributions within the Monash Health Women’s Program have seen her effect positive and lasting changes in one of Victoria’s largest maternity care providers, encompassing highly specialised tertiary obstetrics care and a neonatal intensive care unit at the Monash Children’s Hospital. She has thrived in leading the team that delivers over 10,000 babies at Monash Health each year.

Andrea will transition into her new role as DCOO over the coming weeks and looks forward to her continued work with the dedicated Women’s and Children’s team.

General Manager, Victorian Heart Hospital – Anna MacGregor

Anna MacGregor has been appointed General Manager of the Victorian Heart Hospital (VHH).

Originally from New Zealand, Anna brings with her extensive clinical and operational management experience gained in health settings in the UK, the Middle East, New Zealand and Ireland. Anna has expressed a passion for cardiology from the early part of her career. She worked for the Auckland District Health Board in the cardiovascular intensive care and high dependency units as a Clinical Nurse in Charge and then a Nurse Unit Manager. Since then, she has built a strong foundation in cardiac intensive care, HD, general intensive care, emergency, and theatres and a focus on patient and family-centred care.

Anna played a key role in the changeover and expansion of cardiac services between Greenlane Clinical Centre and Auckland City Hospital. Following this, she secured a position in Doha as Director of Perioperative and Support Services with Sidra Medicine, a greenfield hospital for women and children, where, as part of the Senior Leadership Team, she had operational, clinical and budgetary responsibility for setting up eighteen new services from the ground up.

For the last three years, Anna has been UK based at the University Hospital Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust, where she has held the roles of Assistant Chief Nurse, Divisional Director of Specialised Services (encompassing Regional Cardiac Services, Cancer and Supportive/Palliative Care and Genetics and Genomics Services) and more recently, Associate Executive Director Strategy and Transformation. In this role, Anna led the development and implementation of the organisation’s revised strategic approach and continuous improvement methodology – Patient First.

In addition to her Master’s in Public Health, Anna has studied at the Virginia Mason Institute in Seattle, Executive Lean Leadership Training, and is Six Sigma Greenbelt qualified with a focus on continuous improvement.

Anna will commence the role in August, with John Koutsoubos continuing as Interim Program Manager for the VHH until then. I want to take the opportunity to thank John for his exceptional contribution and leadership during the commissioning of the VHH facilities and services and his continued support of his team and the patients and families at the VHH during this time.

Please join me in congratulating our new appointments and welcoming the invaluable perspectives and ideas they will bring to their roles.
