At Healthwise Fitness, you can access Reformer Pilates classes through Healthwise Fitness casual passes and a Healthwise Fitness membership. For other interested users and employees with Fitness Passport, a 10-session pass for Reformer Pilates Classes are available for purchase, and enables you to book for the class online. For any new participants, be sure to visit during staffed times for your first time.
Once you are familiar with the Reformer Pilates practice, you can use the Reformer Pilates during your usual visit to the gym and outside of Reformer Pilates class times.
What is Pilates?
Pilates is a type of mind-body exercise developed in the early 20th century by German physical trainer, Joseph Pilates. Through a system of low-impact exercises, Pilates can help with body conditioning, no matter what level of ability or type of physique.
What is Reformer Pilates?
In Reformer Pilates, a specialised machine, called the Reformer Bed, is used to allow for a more dynamic, supportive and/or targeted workout. Unlike the (floor) mat version of Pilates, you can tailor the challenge level or add support for your exercises by adjusting the resistance springs on the bed.
Benefits of Reformer Pilates
Reformer Pilates is a popular activity of choice for a mental break and workout at Healthwise Fitness – especially during the lunch break or after work times. Other benefits of Reformer Pilates that current participants are experiencing are:
- Improvement of physical strength, flexibility, mobility and posture
- Tone muscles and improve athletic endurance
- Practising mindfulness with breathing and movement
- Injury prevention or recovery from existing injuries through body conditioning
