Wear It Purple Day: Uniting for LGBTQIA+ Youth Support – Friday 25 August

Friday 25 August, the world comes together to celebrate Wear It Purple Day—an annual event dedicated to showing support for LGBTQIA+ youth.

This day holds immense significance in promoting inclusivity, awareness, and acceptance for individuals of diverse sexual orientations and gender identities.

At Monash Health our LGBTIQA+ subcommittee remains committed to removing barriers, one of the initiatives introduced by the subcommittee is allowing Monash Health employees and consumer advisors the option to add their pronouns to their name badge, should they choose to.

Correct use of pronouns also increases the awareness of gender diversity across our organization allowing our employees to show respect and support for the LGBTIQA+ community, each other, our patients, and our community members. To learn how to order a new name badge with your pronouns visit the PROMPT procedure available here.

Monash Health is thrilled to be a part of this movement, encouraging employees to show their support for our LGBTIQA+ community this Friday by dressing up and wearing something purple. If you can’t wear purple due to uniform requirements, you can decorate your office instead.

For more information and to send through photos of you and your team in purple email: lgbtiqa@monashhealth.org
