Cancer services going digital!

CHARM is an electronic ordering, verification, administration, and scheduling solution for cancer therapy.

The new digital system will help manage cancer treatment for adult patients under Oncology and Haematology units at Monash Medical Centre, Moorabbin Hospital and HITH at all sites.

While anti-cancer medication administration records will reside in CHARM, a summary of the completed medication chart will also be available in the EMR for broader visibility.

The primary disciplines using the new solution are medical, nursing, pharmacy, and clerical.

Training activities for affected clinicians

There are activities arranged for each discipline by the CHARM project team running till 6 October, including:

  • Haematology Journal club
  • Oncology weekly meeting
  • Nursing and clerical education sessions
  • Pharmacy education sessions

Face-to-face training commences on 2 October, with material available through the CHARM knowledge hub.

Relevant employees can book face-to-face training through latte – just go to ‘find learning’ and search CHARM. Training is available at Clayton, Moorabbin, Dandenong & Casey. You can refer to the CHARM SimLab booking QRG to find out more about how you or your manager can make a booking.

Latte videos are available, and while all attendees are encouraged to view the videos prior to their booked training sessions, this is mandatory for medical employees attending. Check out the video for your role here:
