Breast Cancer Awareness Month: Are you up to date with your breast screen?

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness month, and Monash BreastScreen encourages all employees to book a breast screening appointment.

Booking in for a breast screen is easy and typically takes less time than a cup of coffee.

If you are over 50, have never had a breast screen, or are due for your two-yearly check, we encourage you to make an appointment.

You can make an appointment with Monash BreastScreen at Moorabbin Hospital on 9928 8760 or Casey Hospital on 9928 8761. Or, visit the BreastScreen Victoria website to book a breast screen closer to home.

Early detection of breast cancer through a mammogram increases the chance of survival and ensures that individuals have all treatment options available to them.

BreastScreen Australia encourages all women between 50 – 74 to attend a free screening every two years. If you have a family history of breast or ovarian cancer and are aged between 40 – 49 or 75 and older, you can also talk to your GP about whether you should have a mammogram.

You can find more information via the BreastScreen Victoria Information Sheet.
