At yesterday’s Leadership Live return for 2024 we had the pleasure of chatting about leading in these times with our incoming Chief Executive, Professor Eugine Yafele.
Bringing a wealth of experience across senior clinical, leadership and operational roles, Eugine shared his thoughts on what it means to lead, and how we do this authentically by normalising conversations around adversities, acknowledging that the leadership journey is never linear. Failure is never fatal and success is never absolute. He emphasised that leadership is about the art of judgement.
Keen to harness the power of diversity and inclusion, Eugine aims to build on our psychological safety to foster an environment where everyone can “bring their whole self to work…and feel comfortable in their own skin.”
If you missed Leadership Live yesterday, you can catch up here.
Eugine has already been busy around the grounds during his introductory 3 weeks, attending last week’s Employee Forum, an executive Site Forum, and meeting with an array of key players across our sites. Eugine said he was already struck by the welcoming nature of our culture.
Eugine will join us permanently as Chief Executive in March.
