The Move Smart Manual Handling team is launching our ‘Stretching and Warm-up Program’.
We work in an environment where our day-to-day roles involve tasks such as lifting, pushing, pulling and carrying, or sitting for long periods. Taking care of our bodies and wellbeing is vital to make sure we stay healthy.
Tara Veinovic, Manual Handling Program Coordinator, says that working in the healthcare industry is one of the most physically demanding industries for workers.
Completing a series of stretches before doing a physically demanding task or taking active breaks throughout the day will help you work effectively in your role. It will also help increase productivity and focus, minimise the risk of injury and reduce long-term health issues.
“We want to educate, encourage and empower our people, so that no matter where you work at Monash Health you can take simple steps to have a positive impact on your health.”
A series of resources have been developed by the Move Smart team to encourage the movement of our people, in both clinical and office environments.
Download these useful resources and share them with your units and teams.
