Acute Deterioration and Emergencies for Physician Trainees (ADEPT)
This is a 2-day course for Second Year Basic Physician Trainees (BPT2) about to take on their first “med reg” role.
The course will enhance trainee’s skills and confidence in managing the acutely deteriorating medical patient, with an emphasis not only on core knowledge but the leadership skills required to lead a met call response.
We use a blended educational approach including interactive workshops, lectures and immersive simulations. Trainees will gain confidence in initiating the treatment and ongoing management of patients requiring medical high dependency level care, in particular the use of inotropes, non-invasive ventilation and advanced arrhythmia management, in both rural and metropolitan based settings. The course will also include discussions and practice of teamwork challenges and Goals of Care discussions with patients and their family.
Who can attend?
Any BPT2. Please note there is pre-reading/preparation required to ensure you can maximise your time on the course.
