Ambulance Victoria GoodSAM morning tea

Ambulance Victoria GoodSAM morning tea

Join Professor Stephen Nicholls (Director, Monash Heart) and paramedics from Ambulance Victoria for a free morning tea on Tuesday 17 December to celebrate the GoodSAM app.

Every week, 384 Australians suffer a cardiac arrest but only 35 survive. We know that a key factor in improving patient outcomes after cardiac arrest is immediate medical intervention, and the GoodSAM app is making this easier to achieve.

Anyone with a first aid certificate can register to become a GoodSAM in minutes, allowing them to receive notifications on their phones to alert them to any nearby cardiac arrests. GoodSAMs can make their way over and deliver CPR while the patient is waiting for an ambulance, improving the chance of a positive patient outcome.

Since launching the app last year, Ambulance Victoria has registered 9,500 GoodSAMs. We’d all like to see that number climb, so be sure to pop down to the morning team at MMC Lecture Theatre 1 to learn more about how you can become a GoodSAM.
