Family violence – You CAN ask that
On the International Day for the Prevention of Violence Against Women
Join us for a screening of the Domestic and Family Violence episode of ABC-TV’s program ‘You can’t ask that’ followed by a panel discussion.
Hear the stories and consider the implications of family violence in your role.
ABC Radio’s Lisa Pellegrino will host a panel to dissect the confronting issues in the program and encourage us to engage with the topic of family violence, in all its forms.
Hear from one of the program’s family violence survivor advocates, Geraldine Bilston, who lives locally and shares her experiences of family violence so we can better understand the issues. Geraldine is now a family violence advocate for Safe Steps.
They will be joined by Monash Health’s:
Glenda Bawden – Principal Strategic Advisor, Family Violence. Leading the work to implement the state-wide model for Strengthening Hospital Responses to Family violence across our health service. With 30 years’ experience working at Monash Health, Glenda is the former head of social work and current escalation point for complex family violence issues.
George Habib – Deputy Director Psychology at Monash Health, Board member at Victoria Legal Aid and Adjunct Lecturer in Psychiatry at Monash University. Over the past 25 years George has worked in forensic settings, child protection, the non-government sector, sexual assault services and mental health services. The Mental Health program’s Recovery from Trauma clinic which George works within is a finalist in this year’s Victorian Healthcare awards.
