Medical Grand Round / Excellence in Clinical Practice / Patient Experience Team

Patient Experience Team is hosting a Grand round panel discussion on “Why Listening Matters” featuring Dr Dinesh Palipana OAM, Mr Jim Hardie Nursing Coordinator at Moorabbin and A/Prof Suong Le Consultant Gastroenterologist at MMC Clayton.

Dinesh will be sharing how his own personal journey and injury has shaped his approach to medicine. As a patient Dinesh saw firsthand how the simple act of listening had a profound impact on the care he received and his subsequent recovery.

Jim has been a Senior Nurse for over 15 years and together with Suong, a Consultant Gastroenterologist, they will share some of the lessons they have learnt over the years as dedicated clinicians here at Monash Health.

Whilst they are three very different people, they have one thing in common – they have all learnt that small acts of kindness, humanity and compassion, and the simplest basic act of taking the time to listen to your patients is the single most important thing that we should all be doing, as we all strive to provide better and more effective care for our patients.
