S.O.U.P: Stabilisation of the Unwell Patient

For ward-based nurses.

S.O.U.P is a one-day comprehensive clinical skills and simulation program designed to equip participants with a structured approach to assess and manage deteriorating patients on the ward.

Please note: this course is designed for non-critical care nurses.

Course topics

  • Use of a structured approach to assess and manage unwell patients.
  • Latest evidence about clinical deterioration in ward-based areas.
  • Effective communication strategies and behaviours that aid teamwork coordination and clinical decision making.
  • The course includes interactive lectures and video analysis, teamwork and problem-solving activities, practice of clinical skills during workshops, immersive simulation scenarios and facilitated discussions.
