Our STAR Award for Excellent Experiences goes to the team at Monash Health Dental Services.
This award is for an individual or team who positively impacted the experience of our people, patients or consumers. This may include delivering consistently excellent experiences, improving the quality and consistency of experience, or going the extra mile for the sake of others.
Ramini Shankumar, Director of Dental Services, accepted the award on behalf of the team.
“I always say, ‘Nothing is impossible,'” says Ramini. “You can always overcome the barriers if you put your mind to it.”
The Dental Health team constantly goes the extra mile for their patients and colleagues.
The impact of the pandemic on the industry saw waiting lists balloon out to four years, but instead of accepting that, Dental Health Services developed an innovative model of care to remove patients from the priority list.
Based on the COVID-19 testing drive through model, the team were able to conduct oral heath checks while their patients were in their cars. This was the first dental clinic of its kind in the world and saw 247 priority patients removed from their waiting list. This program made it possible to provide quality dental services to patients during these unprecedented times.
The responses from the patient experience and staff satisfaction surveys showed that this innovative model of care was an enormous success, becoming a milestone in providing oral health services.
Earlier this year, Dental Services provided a free drive through dental clinic for Monash Health employees to acknowledge the challenging work we all do.
A huge thank you and congratulations to Ramini Shankumar and the whole team at Monash Health Dental Services for their commitment to providing excellent experiences to patients and colleagues alike.
“It’s the whole team who made this happen,” says Ramini. “Without such a wonderful team, we never could have pulled it off.”
