Is the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for you?

Your overall happiness and wellbeing plays a big role in how you feel at work and in your daily life. That’s why we have our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) available to you at all times.

Our EAP is a confidential service independently facilitated by Converge International that provides short-term counselling for employees experiencing challenges with work or personal issues.

Tackling work challenges with independent support

The EAP can help with challenges you might be facing at work, with specialised service streams for employee issues, manager assistance, career development and conflict support. Volunteers at Monash Health are also able to access the Employee Asisst service stream.

Supporting your personal challenges

The EAP can also help you tackle a range of personal wellbeing challenges. You can also find specialised service streams for nutrition and lifestyle, and financial wellbeing as part of our EAP.

Personalised check-in’s (or no immediate issues at all)

Even when you feel that you are coping well, you can still get value out of the EAP. You don’t have to wait for a critical moment or immediate mental health support to access the EAP. In fact, you can use the EAP for proactive and preventative interventions, or a tailored learning opportunity for a range of issues.

Advice for taking the first step, and/or the next step

If you are unsure of what steps to take with a particular issue, or have never sought counselling before, the EAP is a good starting point. When using the EAP, you can speak with a qualified counsellor that is best placed to support you. The EAP counsellors will support you to develop strategies to drive positive changes in behaviour and lifestyle. They can help you to adapt to change, seize opportunities and provide coping strategies when dealing with difficult situations.

Available to you and the people close to you

Not only can employees and volunteers can access the EAP, but families and partners of employees can access the EAP through the specialised service stream, Family Assist. This a valuable resource if you, your family member or partner is facing challenges in their personal or work lives. Your family members and partner can access the EAP with you or independently of you as well.

How do we access the EAP?

Employees, volunteers and their families and partners can access the EAP at any time in the following ways:

For immediate support, call the EAP phone number: 1300 687 327 – available 24/7 including holidays. The Live Chat (“With Counsellor” function) for EAP is also available for immediate response via the Converge International website during business hours.

Remember, no problem is too small when it comes to your happiness, health, and wellbeing. The EAP can help address your concerns before they worsen. If you’re unsure whether the EAP is right for you, you are welcome to seek assistance and give it a try.

Appointment bookings, resources, articles and tools to help support your health and wellbeing are all available on the Converge International portal. To log into the Converge International portal, use the username and password, “monashhealth”.
