Message from the Chief Executive
Monash Health is currently treating three COVID-19 positive patients, two at Monash Medical Centre, and one at Dandenong Hospital ICU. Our screening clinics have tested 8,644 people to date.
As many of you will have heard, there has been a downturn in case numbers in Victoria, which is a pleasing result. What remains evident in the messages from both the state and the federal governments is that we cannot become complacent and need to maintain our current course.
Your dedication to preparing Monash Health during this pandemic is appreciated, as is your commitment to maintaining excellent care to all our patients throughout this time. I thank you for rising to the challenges and would like to highlight the following priorities:
Return your scrubs for laundry service
Washable scrubs are a part of keeping our employees and patients safe in high-risk areas, and they must be returned at the end of every shift.
Options for balancing work and school arrangements
We recognise that many of our employees at Monash Health have school-aged children, and changes to school operations will have an impact. Please read the information below carefully so that you understand your leave entitlements during this time.
Family violence clinical education now online
Isolation within our community is creating additional risk for those experiencing family violence. The Strengthening Hospital Responses to Family Violence team has adapted training to be available online via Webex.
Lukas’ dedication to Monash Health
Eight-year-old Lukas has a special message for all Monash Health employees.

Return your scrubs
Washable scrubs are supplied for use in high-risk areas to add another layer of safety, above and beyond PPE requirements. It is crucial they are not stored for personal use and are returned at the end of every shift.
Support your colleagues; ensure that:
- all employees working in high-risk areas have access to scrubs and in the right size range
- they are handled safely after use and laundered promptly and properly
- as part of the standard procedure, they are not taken out of the hospital setting and into the community.

Book your family violence clinical education online
As we continue to navigate the COVID-19 pandemic our training is adjusting to facilitate physical distancing measures. Family violence training is now available online via Webex. Demand for the training has been high, with internal and external feedback that isolation is posing additional risks. Book into a session on Latte today.
