As in previous years, we will reduce our planned clinical activity during the Christmas and New Year period. This year’s operational plan is particularly important in the context of COVID-19 and aims to strike a balance between:
- The resumption of clinical activities impacted by the second COVID-19 wave, and;
- The need for employees to take a well-deserved break where possible as we prepare for the 2021 year ahead.
There will be a reduction in planned clinical activities across a four-week period from Monday 16 December. Some clinical services and sites will either temporarily close or reduce their capacity during this time. There will be no impact on our emergency, category one planned surgery or critical services, which will continue as usual.
Monday 14 December – Monday 11 January (All sites)
Planned clinical activity will be reduced during this period. Please refer to the Operational Plan (attached) to see what this means for your site or clinical area.
Non-clinical support and corporate business areas may extend activity reductions by a further two weeks to Wednesday 27 January 2021.
Monday 4 January – Wednesday 27 January (All sites)
From Monday 4 January normal clinical services will progressively resume, with a full clinical service profile in place from Wednesday 27 January 2021.
Thursday 24 Dec 2020 to Sunday 10 January 2021 (Moorabbin / Clayton Inpatient Clinical Services only)
Moorabbin’s Inpatient clinical services will be transferred to Monash Medical Centre from Thursday 24 December 2020 to Sunday 10 January 2020. This decision has been made based on very low historical inpatient demand at Moorabbin Hospital during this period.
Ambulatory Services such as Chemotherapy Day Unit, Dialysis Services, Pathology, Peter Mac Radiotherapy, BreastScreen and some Specialist Consulting Clinics (and associated ancillary / support services) will remain at Moorabbin Hospital during this period.
A special thank you to everyone who is working or on-call over the holiday period. Your contribution is very much appreciated and vital for our patients.
What you need to do:
- Review the Operational Plan for your site and clinical area here
- Talk with your manager and book leave if possible. This is an excellent opportunity for you to pause and recharge for 2021, particularly for those individuals who have not taken leave during the year.
