Compassion and advocacy make for Excellent Experiences

Congratulations to Rhonda Wynne, our brilliant STAR Award winner for “Excellent Experiences”.

Rhonda is a Residential Placement Coordinator who led the relocation of residents from Eastwood Hostel. She implemented a person-centred process by personally speaking with all the residents individually, as well as their nominated representatives, to identify their preferences on where to live after Eastwood closed.

“I feel privileged and also personally satisfied to have been able to assist each resident and their families in the relocation to a new facility they can call home,” says Rhonda. “Credit must be given to the whole Residential Services Team at Eastwood for their contributions and support during what was a difficult and often upsetting time for those departing.”

Recognising that it was an emotional time for residents, Rhonda visited one-on-one with each person. She personally escorted residents on guided tours of potential new homes and went above and beyond to find the right fit for everyone.

Rhonda also helped to relocate two residents to South Australia and Queensland so they could be closer to family.

As a result of her diligence and personal approach, Rhonda was able to relocate all residents within eight weeks, which was six weeks ahead of schedule.

Residents and their families are so grateful to Rhonda for her sensitivity and flexible approach while accommodating their preferences and complex needs. Her colleagues also want to pass on a big thank you to Rhonda for her compassionate advocacy.

If you would like to nominate a colleague or team, you can do so at any time by visiting the STAR Awards portal. For more information about the STAR Awards program, visit the Monash Health COVID-19 website.
